The creation of ichigo.gr began with a logo and a color palette. I wanted the brand to feel fruity, elegant, and clean — a balance between playfulness and precision. My inspiration came from Japanese comics and newspaper aesthetics, where bold typography meets minimal structure. To achieve that contrast, I chose Roboto and Roboto Slab — fonts that feel stable, loud, and confident.
I added a teasing touch through subtle color variations, alternating between a strawberry red and deep black within the same title or sentence, giving the site rhythm and personality.
Design & Development
Once the overall look and typography were established, I designed the sitemap. My goal was clarity and relevance: a homepage showcasing my works — because visitors usually want to see your style and process first — followed by an about page, a blog with helpful articles for people taking their first steps online, and a case studies category to present my workflow and best practices. Finally, a simple contact page to keep communication open and straightforward.
Since I wanted to launch quickly, I chose a minimal WordPress theme that could serve as a solid base for future growth. I didn’t want to be tied to a heavy framework, so I selected the Facade theme — light, fast, and flexible, perfect for custom child-theme development in the future. The whole website was up in just two days (excluding multimedia and text).
The real work, though, happened earlier — defining the style, mood, and philosophy behind Ichigo — a process that took about a month but set the foundation for everything that followed.
